Hello friends!
Sorry I've been so quiet lately. It's been... (*checks calendar*) just over three months since my last check in (or, in official quarantine-era time measurements, "a few days").
We're now in June, which--as some of you may already know--is pride month. Last year, we celebrated by unveiling an awesome new line of pride-themed merchandise before Covid complications forced us to temporarily shut down the merch shop. (We've still got a smaller shop with limited stock available on Redbubble, and with some luck we'll have this page's full shop back open soon.)
This year, to honor the LGBTQ+ community, we will be hosting a new fan art contest on the official subreddit (did you know we have a new official subreddit?). If you fancy yourself an artist, you should enter your TFTGS-themed art and you might win signed copies of the books and/or original sketches from yours truly. If you just like seeing cool art, you should go and check out the entries. The contest is going to be running all month, with official voting to commence at the end.
Also, in honor of pride month, I want to share this video that some of my artistic coconspirators in New Orleans put together regarding the history, celebration, and modern format of Pride as it relates to New Orleans and the south in general. (I swear it's not a Rick Roll... this time...)
In other news, it has somehow been over a year since the release of "Tales from the Gas Station: Volume Three" (or, in official quarantine-era time measurements, "a little while"). And what a year it's been! But things are finally starting to look up. Vaccines are rolling out. Businesses are reopening. Things are going back to "normal," which means I might actually get a chance to do that book tour I'd planned for 2020... or at least some abridged version of it anyway. We're still in wait-and-see mode, but let's just say the remainder of 2021 is looking promising.
What else does this year have in store, you might ask? For one thing, I'm happy to announce that I will be coproducing a brand new podcast! This is something we've put a lot of time, effort, and love into, and I cannot wait to share it with all of you. Stay tuned for more information!
Speaking of upcoming projects, I know a lot of you are eagerly awaiting the final book in the Tales series. I want to assure you that Volume Four is well on its way, inching ever closer to being ready with each day. But this will be the conclusion of the story arc I started way back with the first TFTGS book, and there are a lot of loose ends that need to be tied up. I want to make sure I give the book, and all of you, the ending that you deserve. But don't worry, I wont be Winds-of-Wintering this thing forever. Book Four is close, and we will see it soon.
Love you all.
-Jack
Jack. I had an odd request... can I use Eric Riggins as a side character in a book in writing, it's only a small part where my main character inquires about a private investigator?
