Which should i be reading or listening to because there's MCP that is 7 hours long and has 'Finding Vanessa' and calls Tony as Carlos.
My though train on the whole thing is the books are the base line of everything in the sense that it shows and tells us everything that happens in the gas station and the blog which im guessing is what MCP narrated is the blog he talks about posting in the books?
Please someone explain

Without giving anything big away: in the first book, Jack is told to keep a journal of events. When he goes to buy a journal, the *guy behind the counter* tells him it would be cheaper to just make a blog.
I THINK that the blogs mentioned from time to time in the book, are the blogs we can read easily online. I thought this was MIND BLOWING and just beyond original!
to answer the other questions: Finding Vanessa is a spinoff, I think it’s actually written by a different author, but the guy walked into the gas station, and stayed inside long enough to become a part of the TFTGS archives. And you’ll understand the Tony Carlos thing after a certain point, I just don’t want to say when.
IMO: read the blogs first, then the books. Thats how I did it anyways, and it was freaking magical.
If you want to read/listen in the correct timeline and exclude blogs which aren't cannon then just go with the timeline given by Jack at https://www.gasstationjack.com/post/the-official-gas-station-timeline
or just google Tales from the Gas Station timeline.
Only some of the blogs are still relevant to the story in the books, some are just older versions of what's found in the books. The books are the cannon story as many of the original blogs have been deleted by Jack.
As far as MCP, his YouTube videos cover pre book stories which have mostly been replaced by the content in the books. The only expectations are Bedside Manor, Tales from the Spider Folk, Something Weird came into the Gas Station, Finding Vanessa, Merry Christmas from the Gas Station, Upside Down and Happy Halloween and probably some others I'm forgetting.
Personally, having read and listened to everything here's my recommended order.
Volume 1.
Something Weird came into the Gas Station.
Volume 2.
Merry Christmas from the Gas Station.
A Murder at the Gas Station.
Volume 3.
Upside Down.
Death at the Gas Station.
Happy Halloween.
Bedside Manor (Don't buy the audio book, you can get it free on YouTube or Spotify).
Volume 4.
Tales from the Spider Folk.
If I didn't list something, it's because it was put into one of the volumes or I forgot about it, sorry :(
I personally wouldn't read Finding Vanessa until you finish the series because (without being overly spoilery) it builds up on something that doesn't get resolved in any other story. If you did still want to read it, I'd put it after volume 2.
Once you've finished the the main and cannon material, that's when I'd read/listen to the older versions of the stories like the original Dark God ark, most of them can be found on r/nosleep.
