Long ago, in a time before the pandemic and quarantine, there was a lot of discussion in the nosleep author community about creating a "Choose your own Adventure" style story. Specifically, about whether or not it would be possible within the confines of the rules set forth by nosleep. Also, if such a thing was possible, what would it look like?
This planted the seed that eventually turned into Bedside Manor.
I spent at least a month plotting and planning, tearing the story apart and putting it back together, trying to find a way to tell it while keeping the mystery--and the game--intact. There were several times I almost abandoned it altogether. But the reaction from the ko-fi community inspired me to move forward. (Big thanks to all of the ko-fi heroes for being my unwitting play-testers.)
