after you click ‘ominous’ in the text you get a link to the second not-an-ending and it’s bananas.
i copied the text and took it to google translate which promptly told me it detected the language was Hmong, but when I tried to get it to translate to English, it just kept giving me the untranslated text again. “No, google translate, that’s what I just gave you. No re-gifting.”
And when I tried out other translation sites they all said the text was too long- but I didn’t want to break it up if I didn’t have to... I just realized how lazy that sounds... well, either way, has anyone else had better luck?

You've hit upon a common frustration! Hmong translation, especially with longer texts, can be notoriously difficult. Google Translate and many other services struggle with it, often due to the language's nuances, variations (White Hmong vs. Green Hmong), and the relative scarcity of large, high-quality translation datasets.
It's not just you. Many people have reported similar issues with Hmong text and online translators. The "ominous" link and the subsequent "bananas" text you've encountered likely contain complex sentence structures or culturally specific references that throw off automated systems.
Unfortunately, there isn't a universally recognized "best" app for flawless Hmong translation at this time. Here's why and what you can consider:
Data Scarcity: Hmong is a language with fewer digital resources compared to widely spoken languages. This limits the training data available for machine translation models.
Dialectal Variations: White Hmong and Green Hmong have distinct differences, which can further complicate translation.
Contextual Nuances: Like any language, Hmong relies heavily on context, which automated systems often miss.
What you can try:
Breaking the Text: While you prefer not to, breaking the text into smaller chunks might yield slightly better results with Google Translate or other services. It's tedious, but sometimes necessary.
Community Resources: Seeking out Hmong-speaking communities or individuals online might be the most reliable option. There may be forums, social media groups, or language exchange platforms where you can find assistance.
Specialized Translation Services: For critical translations, consider professional translation services that specialize in less common languages.
I totally understand your frustration with Hmong translation! It's a tough nut to crack. If you're dealing with Hmong text within images, remember, getting a clean text extraction is the first step. For that, you might find my extract to text image website helpful. It's designed to accurately pull text from images, which could at least help you get the Hmong text into a digital format for further attempts at translation. Then, as mentioned above, you can try breaking the text into smaller segments to try and get better results from google translate, or seek community help.
